Wearable Art.

 Wearable Art

This past week we have been planning a design for our wearable arts project. We had to make something in belonging and oruapaeroa or New brighton, my group decided to do the pukeko that live in our oruapaeroa and the pukeko is our bird on the window at the front of the classroom. In my group we had Mailli, Kahukura, Kymaira and Jayzaiah, here is a photo of our costume we made:


I enjoyed doing this activity but next time if we had more time I would add more detain to the headpeace.

Today in math we got into groups of three and we had to complete a task together.

Ka Mate Kai Ia

 This morning in te reo our class read a book about a hungry kea we then learnt a new sentance structure, ka kai ia i te... we then recreated a book using that sentance structure. We use differnt food and kararehe. here is a link to the video me and kahukura made:

Kids In Space

 Yesterday afternoon the year 6,7 and 8 learnt about space, First we watched a couple of videos about how you move in space and how to go to the toilet and how you eat. Our second activity was to color in a spaceship and cut it out,we then stuck a rocket blowing thing to the back of our rockets and got a straw and blew it into the blowing thing so it would then blow up into the air.

After that we learnt a bit more about space and what Astronauts wear an why they were that certain color,for example white suits is that color because white is the color that reflects the most sunlight in space and protects them from cancer-causing solar radiation. The orange suit was chosen for safety as it is highly visible against any kind of landscape,especially the sea. People wearing blue suits are the captains of the spaceship and are responsible for keeping crew members safe 

I enjoyed learning about space and I had fun learning about the different planets.

Waka Hourua

 Waka Hourua

Today we worked in groups to learn about different waka, my group was Hirini, Harlem and Travis we had to learn about waka hourua. We all worked on a slide to learn about waka hourua we each had our own slide and on that slide was what the questions were and the answers.

After we completed the slides we showed our teacher and they said it was good to go, so then we got a long large brown piece of paper and a border to cut out. Next time we carry on with this work we will be gluing the border on and adding the waka.

I really enjoyed doing this activity and I think I worked well and got a lot more work done I think this was because I wasn't with my friends.

Wiremu Tamihana

Wiremu Tamihana

Today In panuitia I learn't about Wiremu Tamihana. Wiremu Tamihana was born in 1804 at the Tamahere near Cambridge. The name that was given to him at birth was Tarapipipi Te Waharoa. His tribe was the Ngati Haua and his was his fathers. Te Waharoa had fought in many wars against other tribes. Tarapipipi fought with him in some of the battles. Then as a young man he became a christian and was given a new name, Wiremu Tamihana.


The kingmaker

In the 1850s Wiremu Tamihana and other people were convinced that the maori people needed to have a king. They needed someone to unite the many tribes, someone to protect the land and someone to give good rules to live by. Wiremu Tamihana and several others travelled the north island trying to find a suitable person. Their choice was the Waikato cheif, Te Wherowhero

 Today in pangarau I learnt how to solve division problems using reversibility. Below is a picture of my work.

Histograms.

 Yesterday in math we learnt about the difference between bar graphs and histograms. Some of the differences are that a bar graph has a space between the bars and a histogram does not. We did a statistics activity first we had to do was to find out answers to 3 questions using the data on a histogram. Our next activity was to organise the data into a frequency table with class intervals 1.0- 2.0- 3.0- 4.0- 5.0- then we had to draw a histogram to display that information. How much blog post I do each.

 How much blog post I do each.

In pangarau we are learning how to pose a statistical investigation. We then use that and posed a statistcal investigation our question was how many blog post do I do a year? We put together a graph so we could tell how many blog posts did each year.

Here is my graph:

The highest blog posts I did per year was in 2020 I did 19 I think this is because I was more experienced in blog posting than other years.
The lowest blog posts I done was in 2018 I did 2 and I think this was because I was new to blogging and I had no experience.
My goal for the future is to do 1 blog post a day or even after every session at school.

 Today as ropu we researched mother's day quotes we could use in te reo Maori I used this quote: ko te whaea te takere o te waka. Mothers are like the hull of a canoe. They are the heart of the family.

Then we followed instructions to make an origami flower to attach to our cards. This activity was challenging because all of the folds had to be perfect.

In year groups we made a sugar scrub and added scent and food coloring my group choose the scent pepermint. here is a picture of my mothers day card and the scrub:



My favourite part was when we were making the scrub as a group. have you ever made

Digital Portrait

 Digital Portrait

last week we made a digital portrait it took a lot of work and effort but I completed it. I liked working on this project because it was fun and I like using sumopaint, its easy and fun to use.When we finished using sumopaint we had to go to bg backround remover to remove the backround. After that we uploded our portrait onto a slide then we had to think of things we like and insert pictures of then around our digital portrait. here are the steps i followed to create my digital portrait.

1.take a photo of yourself using yourchromebook. 2.open sumopaint. 3. click on file,then open from HD then insert your photo.

4.select layer then add new layer. 5.click on pencil icon.

6.outline your face neck shoulders and all facial features. Make sure your shapes are connected.

7.adding color. if you want to keep the colors that are in your photo then select the dabber in the bottom left corner. click on the color you want to use from your picture.

8.select the paint can, 

click on the area you want to paint.

 repeat the steps above to change others colors.

9.removing your photo backround. click on the eye next to layer one in the bottom right corner this will remove the photo.

10.click on file then export selet png then save.this will downlaod your portrait. 

11.go to backround remeover upload your digital portrait to backround remover. remove your backround then download

final step:

upload your portrait onto a slide use explore to insert any pictures or hobbies you have.click on your portrait select arrange then bring it to the front this will make sure that no pictures over lap your portrait.

Today in Reo a waha we learnt about karakia. We learnt about who are the most appropriate people to use karakia and that one karakia was used as a spell. We had to complete a KWL chart here is a picture of mine.
