Interesting Read

 Interesting Read.

What is a book club?

A book club is what we do during reading. First we choose an interesting book and we work with the people who choose the same book as you.

Then we work in a group to figure out how many pages we need to read each day.

While reading each section we fill in our discussion tickets with figurative language, vocabulary, favorite paragraph, favorite part & discussion seed. Here is a photo of a ticket.

Finally we share the information from our tickets. Every one in the group has a job to do each day either translator, editor, illustrator or publicist. We then talk about our discussion seeds before filling in our booklet.

This week I am reading Gumdigger the author of this book is Kath beattie.

This book is about a boy called Reuben Radcliffe his father owns the store in the small township of Waipapa. When the bank forecloses on a loan Reuben and his family are forced to leave their home and move into a tent. With no money and little food Reuben has to leave school and find work.

I am in a group with Arika and Amahri. We are reading this book for 13 days. We need to read 14.5 pages a day.

Have you ever been in or heard of a book club?

Thank you for reading my blog.

Cybersmart with Sharon.

 Cybersmart with Sharon.

Today the year 5,6 and year 4’s learnt about making a quality blog comment and what you should and shouldn’t write in a blog comment.

We learnt this so when we write a comment we know not to write anything that's going to make the editor feel sad.

We had to get into pairs and talk about what a good comment is and a bad comment. We also learnt that to not talk about yourself too much otherwise it changes the subject to something completely different and also don’t share private information to the creator of the blog such as your phone number or where you live.

I liked learning with Sharon and learning that we have to write a good comment to make someone feel good.
Are you improving when you comment on someone's blog?
thank you for reading my blog.

Finding the perimeter and the area

Finding the perimeter and the area

Today in math we had to Find the perimeter and area of different shapes.

I achieved my W.A.L.T by finding the area in a shape and the perimeter around the shape.

What is peremeter? Perimeter is the distance around a shape.

What is the formular to find a perimeter? The forlumalar=2l+ 2w

What is the area? Area is the space inside a shape.

What is the formular? formular= length x width

Today I measured the perimeter of one of our sqaures on the floor. It was 240cm.

And the area was 3600

I enjoyed finding out the space in a shape.
here is a photo

What shape would you want to know the perimeter and the area?

Thank you for reading my blog.
